Poco will continue to use Xiaomi's MIUI platform for its smartphones going forward
Poco
recently launched the Poco C3 smartphone in India. Now, just days after its
launch, Poco has explained why some of the Poco smartphones sold in India are
being rebranded as Redmi smartphones.
In a
statement to The Indian Express, Poco Country Director Annul Sharma explained
that Poco phones are not just newer branded versions of Redmi smartphones.
Instead, they are better and better versions of Redmi smartphones, which is why
they offer value for money to consumers.
He also told
the publication that poco is still a new brand and similarly it is a difficult
task to develop a new smartphone with each series, this is where Xiaomi's
platform comes into the picture. Poco uses Xiaomi's platform, which includes
not only the Redmi smartphones but also its user interface, namely MIUI and
manufacturing facilities for its own smartphones, including the Series C,
Series M , Series X and Series F smartphones.
In addition,
Sharma pointed out that Poco is not the only smartphone brand to choose this
strategy. OnePlus did the same with Oppo smartphones when it launched the
OnePlus One smartphone.
Talking
about the future, the company's country director said that Poco will continue to use the Xiaomi MIUI platform
for its smartphones.
